P-Sand (Plastering Sand) is the manufactured alternative to fine river sand used for plastering work. It is produced by further processing M-Sand through air classifiers to achieve finer grading suitable for plaster finishes.
Many plasterers in Mumbai initially resisted P-Sand because they were used to river sand. But with proper water management and the right mix ratio, P-Sand gives an equally smooth plaster finish. Most large construction projects in the MMR region now use P-Sand exclusively.
The typical mix ratio for P-Sand plastering is 1:4 (cement:sand) for external walls and 1:5 for internal walls, similar to river sand. However, P-Sand requires slightly less water than river sand due to its lower absorption. Work with your mason to adjust the water quantity during the first trial batch.
Thane city is one of the most active construction markets in the MMR. The Ghodbunder Road corridor has seen explosive residential growth with projects by Lodha, Hiranandani, Rustomjee, and many others. Thane East along the Eastern Express Highway continues to see new launches. The lake city has multiple ongoing infrastructure projects including Metro, road widening, and the Thane Coastal Road.
